What is Packstack?

Packstack is a free gear tracking and packing list tool for backpackers and hikers. It helps you organize your inventory, build packing lists, and track your pack weight down to the ounce (or gram).

Is Packstack free?

Yes. Packstack is completely free to use. We may introduce optional premium features in the future, but the core gear tracking and packing list functionality will always be free.

How do I create an account?

You can sign up with your email address (we'll send you a one-time verification code), or sign in instantly with Google or Apple.

Can I import my gear from Lighterpack or a spreadsheet?

Yes. Packstack supports importing from Lighterpack CSV exports and generic CSV files. Go to your Inventory and look for the Import option.

How do I change my weight units?

Head to Settings in the app and you can switch between imperial (oz/lb) and metric (g/kg) units. All weights across the app will update automatically.

Can I share my packing list with others?

Yes. Each trip has a shareable link that anyone can view — no account required. You can find the share option on your trip's pack page.

What are Kits?

Kits are reusable groups of gear that you can quickly add to any packing list. For example, you might create a "Cook Kit" or "Sleep System" kit and add it to multiple trips without rebuilding the list each time.

Is my data backed up?

Yes. All your data is stored securely on our servers and is backed up regularly. You can also export your inventory as a CSV at any time for your own records.

How do I delete my account?

Send us an email at jerad@packstack.io and we'll process your account deletion within 30 days. All associated data will be permanently removed.

I found a bug. How do I report it?
