Packstack, LLC ("Packstack," "we," "us," or "our") operates the website www.packstack.io, the web application at app.packstack.io, and the Packstack mobile application (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Service.

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Service.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account using a social login provider (such as Google or Apple), we receive your name and email address from that provider. We do not collect or store your social login password.

User-Generated Content

We collect the packing lists, gear inventories, trip plans, and other content you create within the Service. This data is stored to provide the core functionality of Packstack.

Device and Usage Information

We collect limited analytics data to understand how the Service is used:

• Plausible Analytics — a privacy-friendly, cookie-free analytics tool that collects aggregate page view and visitor data without personally identifying you.
• Ahrefs Web Analytics — collects aggregate website traffic data.
• Mixpanel — used within the application to track feature usage events (e.g., creating a packing list, sharing a trip). Events may be associated with your account to help us improve the product.

Mobile App Permissions

The Packstack mobile app may request the following device permissions:

• Camera — to photograph gear items for your inventory.
• Photo Library / Storage — to select existing photos for gear items.
• Push Notifications — to send you trip reminders and important updates.

You can revoke any of these permissions at any time through your device settings.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the Service
• Create and manage your account
• Send transactional emails (e.g., account verification, password resets)
• Analyze usage trends to improve and develop new features
• Respond to your inquiries and support requests
• Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or security incidents

3. Cookies and Tracking

We use session and authentication cookies only. These cookies are strictly necessary to keep you logged in and to maintain your session. We do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking cookies, or cross-site tracking technologies.

• Service Providers — We use trusted third-party services to operate the Service, including DigitalOcean (hosting and infrastructure) and Resend (transactional email delivery). These providers only process data as necessary to provide their services to us.

• Business Transfers — If Packstack is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

Your data is stored on servers hosted by DigitalOcean in the United States. We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS/SSL) and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you request deletion of your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.

• Correct inaccurate or incomplete information

Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing support@packstack.io. We will process your request within 30 days.

The Service is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request deletion, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. As stated above, we do not sell your personal information.
